A Safe & Natural Alternative For Panic Attacks

Do you feel as if anxiety is crippling you but you don’t want to mess around with dangerous medications? Rest assured that there is a natural alternative for panic attacks that you can begin implementing immediately.

There are people who experience anxiety when something significant is happening in their lives.  Their anxieties come with the event and leave once the event is over.

Then there are people who live with anxiety as a constant companion.  These people often suffer from "generalized anxiety" and the root of their anxieties can be many, and often overwhelming.  People stricken with chronic anxiety are often crippled by fear and unable to function in their day-to-day lives.

Some symptoms of anxiety include sweating, nausea, trembling, racing heart, tightness in the chest and often difficulty breathing normally.  Anxiety attacks that are not controlled can easily turn into a full panic attack.

For people with chronic anxiety attacks there are some natural treatments available.  Medications are an option, but the best treatments are natural and drug free.

Cognitive therapy with a qualified therapist may be one of the more effective drug free therapies to try.  There are different kinds of cognitive therapies, but it is basically rewiring your thinking so that you can   identify the early symptoms of an anxiety attack, recognize the cause for it, and take steps to alleviate the situation.

Acupressure and acupuncture are both alternatives to drugs and medications, and have been successfully used to treat anxiety attacks and symptoms.

Another treatment recommended for anyone who is dealing with anxiety attacks is frequent exercise.  Especially calming exercises, that help decrease the anxiety symptoms and attacks, are Yoga and Tai Chi. If you have problems with frequent attacks of anxiety walking is highly recommended as a natural treatment that can soothe you and dissipate these feelings.

Perhaps one of the best things that a person with anxiety problems can do is to learn grounding methods and proper breathing exercises.  These methods are very easy to do, but take practice to learn how to perform them correctly. Once these basic, inner grounding exercises are learned, they can be life changing for anyone who deals with anxiety attacks.

There are also some great herbal treatments that are used to minimize symptoms of anxiety and prevent attacks.  Gingko Biloba is a good selection as it is quite calming to anyone who uses this supplement and it is safe to use. Chamomile tea is another herb that has been used successfully by many people. It has been found to calm feelings of anxiety, and make sufferers feel better.

The grounding method is a natural technique used to bring about inner peace and calm. Sit down in any type of chair that has arms and place both feet flat on the floor.  Place both of your hands on the chair arms as you perform the breathing techniques described below. Slide the palms of your hands back and forth along the arms of the chair and slide your feet around while allowing them to remain flat on the floor.

The idea behind this is to connect you with the solidness of the chair and the floor.  You should be taking as deep a breath in as possible and releasing your breath slowly while repeating to yourself, “I am (your name); I am (your age); I am here (location); and I am doing okay”.  You can repeat this as many times as needed, but you will begin to feel calmer after just a few moments.

Anxiety sufferers can always use deep breathing techniques to alleviate these symptoms, and this breathing can stop an attack in its earliest stages. Do not allow the simplicity of this technique to fool you, it may be deceptively easy, but it is very successful.

You just close your eyes and breathe in as slowly and deeply as you can and slow with your nose while slowly counting to 4.  Then you need to hold this breath for a count of 4.

Now you can exhale the air slowly out of your mouth for a count of 4.  You should always try to keep the breathing slow and controlled, even if you start out a bit fast at the onset, you will soon be able to slow the counting down.

You should try to make the breathing be some really deep belly breaths not chest breaths.  You will need to go through at least 5 cycles of this deep breathing in order to ground yourself.

With practice, you will be able to get the same calming effect with your eyes open and you’ll become expert enough in grounding techniques that people won’t even notice what you are doing.

These natural alternative for panic attacks will help you to live a better life. I would also recommend that you make use of the Linden Method because it’s a solution that works really well.
